She's always been just the girl next door...until now.

Klaire Mason has worked hard to establish her photography business and isn't willing to let anyone ruin it. Following a difficult past as a crime scene photographer and a broken engagement, she agrees to help her friend find homes for animals displaced by a forest fire. When she teams up with Cold Spring's handsome Fire Chief, James Wade, to find homes for the animals and save the Fire Department from bankruptcy before January 1st, she finds herself struggling with her feelings for him.

James took the job in his hometown to escape his ex-wife's painful memories and his broken marriage. Instead, he discovered the Fire Department in need of a leader, and Klaire Mason—his former high school neighbor, and a talented photographer who volunteers to help them raise funds for the animal rescue society. The problem is that he's the reason her fiance left her many years ago.

With so much history and heartbreak between them, Klaire must decide if she can forgive James and see him as more than just a mistake from her past. Will they be able to overcome their past and find love in their shared mission to save the Fire Department and the animals?

About Me

Award-Winning Author

A country girl born and bred, USA Today Bestselling Author Dawn Luedecke, has spent most of her life surrounded by horses, country folk, and the wild terrain of Nevada, Idaho and Montana. As a child she would spend many afternoons reading books, watching western classics, and Rogers and Hammerstein movies. When she grew up she decided to leave the quiet country life for a chance to find adventure by serving a successful tour in the United States Coast Guard. During that time she found her soul mate (and alpha male) and started a family and writing career. She enjoys writing historical and paranormal romance and spends as much time as she can working on her current manuscript.

Once Upon A Time..

...there were two romance authors who wanted to find a way to connect voracious romance readers with the authors who love them. After several conversations (and countless glasses of wine) an idea began to take shape. What if they could create a place where readers could listen to their favorite authors read from their books? But wait, there’s more... What if they could have the chance to chat with them over a cocktail or two? But wait, there’s even more... What if they could make all of this happen from the comfort of their own homes so they wouldn’t even have to put clothes on?

We call that a win - win - win!

As fans of both the romance genre and a well-stocked bar, Dawn Luedecke and Dylann Crush made their vision a reality when they launched Romance Happy Hour in 2018. We hope you’ll join us twice a month for our version of a girls’ night in... beverages and bras are optional, romance novels are required.
